Aulisa Medical USA, Inc. integrates medical device science and information communication technologies (ICT) to create wireless, wearable, FDA-cleared vitals bio-sensors, combine with continuous, cloud-based, patient monitoring and alarm systems to address urgent “unmet needs” for patient care.

“There are huge unmet medical needs for our Aulisa Guardian Angel® technology. Due to serious nursing staff shortages worldwide, the standard of patient care in hospitals and skilled nursing facilities defaults to infrequent spot-checking, i.e., vitals are being taken by nursing staff once every 3-4 hours. Between nursing staff’s scheduled visits, patients are often unattended for hours, and their conditions and vitals trends are difficult to detect. Adverse events then occur before effective medical intervention can be taken, causing many unnecessary deaths and complications in hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, and at home,” says Augustine Lien, the founder and CEO of Aulisa Medical. “Aulisa’s wireless continuous monitoring and automatic alarm system is the answer to these unmet medical needs.”

Before Aulisa, Mr. Lien has also founded or co-founded five other successful medical device companies, all of which have gone public or have been acquired by companies, such as Medtronic, Johnson & Johnson and Boston Scientific.

Aulisa’s product lines, trade-marked as “Aulisa Guardian Angel®,” are complete multi-function vital signs monitoring and alarm systems. Aulisa Guardian Angel® system can be described in two parts—the frontend and the backend. The frontends are wearable wireless continuous human vital signs biosensors capable of measuring essential vitals (see chart 1 below) and transmit patient data via Bluetooth continuously and wirelessly to either a display tablet to monitor the patient “locally,” or to a backend Receiver &Transponder(RT). This system receives the patient’s vital sign data, converts patient data into WiFi signals, and transmits the patient vitals to an Intranet or Internet server. This then projects the patient data along with his/her video image on a tablet display for “remote monitoring”. (refer to Picture 1 below)

Due to Bluetooth limitation, the “local monitoring” limits to 10 meters (about 30 feet) radii from the patient to the display tablet. The “remote monitoring” systems have no distance limitation between the patient and the display units since it uses WiFi for wireless transmission (see Picture 1). The RT is designed with IP-Cam technologies; the patient is monitored continuously with audio/video along with his/her vitals.

Aulisa has received 510(K) market clearances for four of its product lines, namely:

1. GA1000, K162580, for local monitoring adults and pediatrics,

2. GA1001, K182822, for local monitoring infants,

3. GA2000, K183067, for remote (cloud) monitoring adults/pediatric, with audio and video,

4. GA2001, K191207, for remote (cloud) monitoring infants, with audio and video.

5. Please refer to the Picture 2 for the four (510K) cleared products.

Aulisa has also obtained CE certificate for the Guardian Angel® systems to be marketed legally in the CE countries in Europe.

From Chart 1, Aulisa will have 3 bio-sensors to provide 7 most important vital signs in the very near future. It could replace most, if not, of the vital monitoring devices in the hospitals with most advanced, wireless, continuous, real-time less Aulisa Guardian Angel® systems that gives alarms to save lives. We look forward to this change in patient-care soon.

Aulisa’s wireless continuous monitoring and automatic alarm system is the answer to these unmet medical needs

Aulisa Guardian Angel® is perfect to monitor patients with COPD, OSA, elderlies with chronical illness, and infants, to ensure early detection of abnormal vitals and alerts the caretaker(s) to takeeffective medical intervention to the patient and save lives.

Aulisa’s Guardian Angel® patient monitoring systems are very versatile, it can be used for infants, pediatrics, adults, and elderlies (no user age limitation), it can be used at home or in the hospital/nursing facility (no field limitation), it can be used on a single patient or multiple patients connected wirelessly as a group. Please refer to the drawing below Picture 3 for the Aulisa Guardian Angel® Centralized Multiple Patient Monitoring System (CMPM):

Picture 3: Aulisa Guardian Angel® Centralized Multiple Patient Monitoring System (CMPM)

The GA-CMPM is a very attractive applications for managing patients in the ICU, NICU, and other patient care facilities where multiple patients can be monitored simultaneously as a group from a centralized nursing station. Nurses would not need to travel to the patient room for spot-checking the patients, and patient can be sure that they are being monitored around the clock. It would significantly improve the efficiencies of the nursing staff and improve the quality of the patient’s comfort and safety.

During the current world-wide pandemic of COVID-19, the Aulisa Guardian Angel® Monitoring Systems can monitor remotely the COVID-19 infected patients who are quarantined in a facility, minimize the necessities of caretakers (doctor and nurses) to have to be in close contact with patients and thereby reduce the risks of the caretakers of being infected. The Aulisa Guardian Angel® Monitoring System is perfect for monitoring the COVID-19 infected patients at home, when the hospitals are running out of capacity to take care of the patients.

In addition to nursing shortages, patients in the hospitals are getting older and sicker, living longer, and the number of elderly patients is growing rapidly. It is impossible to care for the increasing number of aged and sick patients using traditional methods. There also remains no effective way to monitor high risk infants which in many cases are associated with SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome), and it is very difficult to care for patients of chronic diseases, such as obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA), Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), chronic heart diseases and cardiovascular diseases, etc. “Aulisa’s innovative Guardian Angel® systems could help resolve these problems,” Mr. Lien adds.

Through the development of new products, Aulisa continues to focus on growing the application of Digital Health, collecting large amounts of live patient data by the thousands of users of Guardian Angel® for big data analytics and artificial intelligence to help enhancing medical applications.

The Guardian Angel® products are available for purchase through various medical supply distributors, our company’s website www.aulisa.com
